Bye Bye Mumtaz Mahal Blues; Saturday, December 5th!

There is only one way to achieve happiness on this terrestrial ball, and that is to have either a clear conscience or none at all. -Ogden Nash, poet (1902-1971)

Dear Cottage Arts Emporium!Thank you for notice of shipment. We will be at home by December 11th so you can ship the carpets now. Friends are staying in our home so if delivery occurs before that date that is fine as well. Thank you for your consideration and concern. Cheers, Patrick Dunn.
Hi Patrick, Thanks for your progressive updates of the Indian adventure truly amazing place by the looks of the photos. Alas we have no great news from the land of Oz simply moving steadily towards Christmas and doing the occasional work based things though now Claire is an official board voluntary member of a Community Advisory council for the local health district so she can now use all her past experience to assist delivery of local health programs.
[Different year, same haze. That was in November 2007.]

In terms of our travels we are going to take a five week trip to Victoria in our caravan in February and then just local touring for next year, so all good I will watch in amazement your travels as you go to exotic locations. Cheers Greg and Claire

Not sure when you arrive home - hopefully not this weekend as it is truly miserable here. Heavy rain all weekend, flooding forecast for Comox/Courtney etc. Hope Jane stays above water. One thing of relevance to you (but thankfully not us) is that there are heavy snow warnings for all southern mountain passes. If you get stranded in Vanc our door is always open. You could have a taste of Crowne Royal Northern Harvest as I managed to snag a bottle against all odds. The status of the next shipment to BC stores is uncertain. Safe Travels, Paul

Hi Chooch and Brunello, et al! Late sleep-in, up at 7:50 am. Lady Darjeeling spent quite a restless night, reading on her Kobo, as her cold/fever seemed to have a bit of a resurgence. Made her a cup of English Breakfast to help her get going. Both of us packed most of our belongings before heading downstairs for another tasty breakfast. Pleased to see Lynne as she had not joined us for dinner last night, feeling rather poorly herself, after the rigours of sightseeing for a large part of the day.

Back in our room to finish last minute packing. Will scribe until about 11:20 am as we are off to the airport at 11:30 am. Our flight leaves at 2:30 pm. I gather drive is about an hour to airport. Should be in Varanasi, after a stop-over in Khajuraho, about 5:00 pm. Have to say goodbye to Ashok. Will miss his friendly face and warm personality. Of the three, long-term drivers we've had, he's been the one we feel closest to as we've been able to engage with him over last twelve days. He has always been ready to talk and offer opinions about everything from politics to local sites, etc. I think he feels reasonably close to us as well, given that he's hosted us to two great Old Monk/Thums Up Cola and chips "parties" in the van where we've shared aspects our lives.

Bit of a palaver, since yesterday, as Jugos would like to send a bag of souvenirs, some clothes and a few books, back to Dehli with Asok, as he will be driving there after we leave him at the airport. He was just fine with that as he would leave bag at the Luxe India office there, to be delivered when we check-in to our hotel there. However, as a direct result of a nation wide high security alert, local Luxe India office here seems reluctant to allow this. Chap we have been dealing with claims that if Asok is stopped, at a police roadblock and is found to have a bag not belonging to him, there could be serious trouble for all concerned. At any rate, we will learn the decision, en route to airport. Stay tuned!

Must away as its time to hit the road. Fondestos from Lady Darjeeling, to you, Brunello, and Choocheranian, and assembled company! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi, haven't had time to read any emails of late, works crazy but wanted to know what time your flight gets in Thursday the 10th?? I am going to try and take the day off or at least part of it. Love you, so looking forward to being cozy at yours, reading, napping and watching movies.

Glad to know that you are OK, and I see from the maps, far from the flooding down ner Chennai.  Hope Lady Darjeeling's cold/fever proves innocuous.  Yesterday was the 100th anniversary of the closing of the Panana-Pacific International Exposition of 1915, we were in the City touring the DeYoung art show with visiting (from DC) friend Heidi who helped curate the show. Brought husband and cute 6 year old twin daughters, we had a lovely time, ending with a starlit stroll around the Palace of Fine Arts.  Looking forward to your safe return to this continent!  Love to the ailing one...Cactus
