Early Morning Snowshovel Blues: Friday, December 18th!

The most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. -Steve Biko, anti-apartheid activist (18 Dec 1946-1977)

Up at 6:30 am to light a fire for Lady Dar and then made myself a mug of java. Outside to shovel snow!

Hello Fellow Festive Creative Blunderers! Just a quick note to thank everyone for the more than terrific Christmas Potluck Hike yesterday. What an exhilarating experience to be with so many wonderful, energetic happy people enjoying such a plenteous feast in the pristine mountain air. The food, the wine, the spirits, the live music and the great good company, shared in such a winter wonderland, were truly magical. So thanks again, to the main organizers, and to one and all, for introducing me into yet another magnificent aspect of life in the Okanagan.

Maggie Carr Joyeux Noel et heureuse annee.

For those of you who might be around over the holidays and free on Boxing Day, Cora Lee and Chloë, (our youngest daughter, up from Vancouver), and I would like to invite you to our Open House, (Saturday, December 26th), anytime after 2:00 pm until the reindeer go home, at 611 Burns Street, (just off Eckhardt, down from the High School, H: 250-493-0092), to share a drink, (or many), and a nibble, (or more), while telling lies, (or hard truths), all the better for old and new friends to get to know one another even better! For those of you I might not see until 2016, Happiest of Happy Christmases, from our family to yours, and a Healthy New Year to one and all. Onward! Upward!! Cheers, Patrizzio!!!

Please find the following links below: Note: I forgot to turn off my odometre before we drove back to Penticton, (Thanks Anthea, Jim and Tia!), so stats are rather skewed, to say the least!!! Too, too much hootch, obviously! Stats for hike:

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/985399391#.VnNQgysIoMU.email

Upon further perusal, I estimate that initial hike to picnic site, then feasting, then next next hike and more feasting back at fire-pit, then return to car took about 3:40:54, for an AVG of 1.7kph, as opposed to stats which include car ride back to Penticton!

Dear friends, I say, Canadians are cautious people, not to say suspicious. I just got an email from one of my friends, saying he did not dare open the link to my Christmas greetings, because he thought it might contain a fatal virus. Just let me say that, as far as I know, none of the Scandinaivian friends that opened it had any problems, this year or last. Nor did the three Canadians that actually took the leap. It would be a bit sad if it was all in vain. All the best, Kjell

There won't be a hike next Monday (unless someone wants to lead one!) but we've been invited to the solstice snowshoe. See attached message from Rick. Merry Christmas to one and all! Pam Great picnic yesterday! 38 attended, by my count of the "official" picnic pic (see link below).

Next TUESDAY is our annual Solstice foray to Green Mt. Meet at Home Hardware at 1900h (7 pm) and bring something to share, warm clothes and snowshoes. Summerlands may meet at the IGA at 1840 to car pool if they wish. Here's the pic link from the picnic (I like the alliteration....)
