Hope-Princeton Slush and Sand Blues: Friday, December 11th!

The mind is its own place, and in itself / Can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven. -John Milton (9 Dec 1608-1674)

Farewells to our wonderful, wonderful hosts at Bayswater B&B before we headed home! James'/Ross' father came to say farewell. He and his wife are over from Australia for the Christmas holidays. She left for Kamloops, a few days before, driving Ross' girlfriend there. Stopped at Harbour Terace to see sarge and catch up on all the news that's fit to print. Grogg seems to be doing quite well so pleased to learn this.

Patrick James Dunn Healthy New Year's Greetings to you, Lord Chardonnay! All the best to you, Tiptoe, from Lady Darjeeling and I!

Took off around 10:00 am as we weren't sure of the state of the HopePrinceton. As it turned out, all went well, with a bit of heavy slush and packed snow through Manning Park. Otherwise, highway was clean and dry so a pretty easy drive. Stopped at the RBC on Main Street once we were in Penticton as we needed some cash to pay Henryk for the materials he had used when installing the in-house vacuum, shelving, etc. Once we had broken the bank we pulled into the back driveway of Burns Street at close to 3:00 pm, to find Louise and Henryk waiting to welcome us home! Once we'd said hello and greeted one another, Henryk helped me unload the car and then we started to visit.

Louise had some delicious soup on the stove so we had a bowl of that after we tried to unpack a few things. Knew we'd wait until the morrow as we were too, too tired to think about where everything needed to go and would have plenty of time once L/H left. They wanted to be on the road by 7:00 am as they had a long drive south and were concerned about the state of the roads through Washington. We cracked a few bottles of wine for The Sistherhood while Henry and I had a few rum and cokes, made with Old Monk. Louise had a more than tasty stew for dinner so after we'd enjoyed that it was close to 9:00 pm. Both Lady Darjeeling and I were quite sleepy so we said goodnight to our marvellous house sitters and repaired to bed. They were turning in quite soon, due to aforementioned drive ahead. After brushing and flossing, sank into bed, relishing being back in our home after almost two months on the road. Dropped off thinking of the both the camel and elephant rides. Quite a different country, it goes without saying!
